On January 30th, Anthony auditioned for acceptance to American Musical and Dramatic Academy. ADMA is a conservatory for fine Arts that offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre. They have a campuses in Los Angles and New York City.

We were told at the audition that it would be three to four weeks before we would hear if Anthony was accepted. Well, last Thursday, the 4th of February Anthony got a voice mail for AMDA. AMDA was calling to tell Anthony that he was accepted. That was only four Days!! ! And he was awarded a $20, 000 scholarship. $5000 per year.

And they want Anthony to start in the Summer semester and not wait for the Fall Semester.

LUNCHTIME

I think lunchtime is about the worst time of day for me. Always having to sit here alone. Of course, sometimes, mornings aren't so pleasant either. Waking up and wondering if anyone would really miss me if I never got out of bed. Then there's the night, too. Lying there and thinking about all the stupid things I've done during the day. And all those hours in between when I do all those stupid things. Well, lunchtime is among the worst times of the day for me.

Well, I guess I'd better see what I've got. Peanut butter. Some psychiatrists say that people who eat peanut butter sandwiches are lonely...I guess they're right. And when you're really lonely, the peanut butter sticks to the roof of your mouth. There's that cute little red-headed girl eating her lunch over there. I wonder what she would do if I went over and asked her if I could sit and have lunch with her?...She'd probably laugh right in my face...it's hard on a face when it gets laughed in. There's an empty place next to her on the bench.

There's no reason why I couldn't just go over and sit there. I could do that right now. All I have to do is stand up...I'm standing up!...I'm sitting down. I'm a coward. I'm so much of a coward, she wouldn't even think of looking at me. She hardly ever does look at me. In fact, I can't remember her ever looking at me.

Why shouldn't she look at me? Is there any reason in the world why she shouldn't look at me? Is she so great, and I'm so small, that she can't spare one little moment?...SHE'S LOOKING AT ME!! SHE'S LOOKING AT ME!! (he puts his lunchbag over his head.) ...Lunchtime is among the worst times of the day for me. If that little red-headed girl is looking at me with this stupid bag over my head she must think I'm the biggest fool alive. But, if she isn't looking at me, then maybe I could take it off quickly and she'd never notice it.

On the other hand...I can't tell if she's looking, until I take it off! Then again, if I never take it off I'll never have to know if she was looking or not. On the other hand...it's very hard to breathe in here. (he removes his sack) Whew! She's not looking at me! I wonder why she never looks at me? Oh well, another lunch hour over with...only 2,863 to go.

So now we have federal aid to apply for and schedule a trip to the school. Anthony will only have two weeks between the day he graduates from High School to the first day of classes at AMDA.

HANDBOOK 2009

Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner
like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less
food that is manufactured in plants.
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games.
7. Read more books than you did in 2008.
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk,

Personality:

Well , A New Year and Allot is going on...

So Anyway, Stephanie has been work allot on her new adventure...Embroidering .

So Stephanie has been busy, I have not traveled as much right now but I am very busy with upcoming deployments.

Now Anthony has also been busy with a couple of projects. he is trying to keep his grades up and he is rehearsing for his part in the school play William Shakespeare's The Tempest. But he has one project that has been interesting , there was an open casting call for a Christmas movie that will come out the 2009 Christmas season. So Anthony submitted a tape and was contacted by the casting people to submit another tape of a scene from the actual script.

So for Stephanie's Birthday, Donna and Len wanted to buy tickets to Jersey Boys at The Palazzo. We tried to get tickets for the Jersey Boys last time we were in NYC. But of couse it had just won a Tony Award and there were no tickets available.

So November 8th at 7:00pm, we were entertained for a full 2hours and 10 minutes! This is a GREAT show.

As we were walking in to the theater a disclaimer about the show containing smoking, strobe lights and strong authentic Jersey language!

I got a chuckle from the disclaimer, in that now i have a new way of catagorizing "cussing" - Authenic Jersey! So instead of the old pharse "excuse my french" , I can see excuse my Authenic Jersey! Of course, I have to pronouce Jersey without the "r".

So if you get a chance to see this show , Please Go! ! ! You will not be disappointed.

Well School might have ended on Wednesday, but there was still performing to be done. Anthony and several of his theater classmates were asked to be a scene during the performance of Disney's High School Musical preformance at Plant Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip. The area high schools were contacted but only the school's that called back were asked to participant. Well with Brandi as a one of the counselors at Anthony's high school and Stephanie being a stage mother. The Legacy High School kids got an opportunity of a lifetime.

Pope Benedict goes wireless with Sprint

Well Sprint is supporting a HIGHER POWER to change their image.

Apparently hoping to get in the good graces of a higher power, Sprint is providing emergency communications for Pope Benedict XVI during his trip this weekend to New York City.

Before the spiritual leader of the world's 1 billion Catholics arrived in the Big Apple today, Sprint deployed 600 Direct Connect phones for both emergency services and communication between security personnel and the Pope's caravan.

Sprint was chosen for the project by the Archdiocese of New York.

"Robust communications are integral to the success of the Pope's visit, and we decided to work with Sprint because of their industry-leading Nextel Direct Connect product and the instant connectivity that it will provide to our staff during all activities over the next few days," Joseph Zwilling, director of communications for the Archdiocese, said in a statement.

Sprint said 40 Direct Connect phones will be used by the Elite Fleet and the Pope's Caravan, all Cardinals and Vatican VIP personnel as they travel through the city.

The walkie-talkie like phones are best recognized by the familiar chirp which indicates someone is trying to contact them.

Not that there will be any question where Pope Benedict is during the three-day visit, Sprint said the security team will have access to Actsoft's Comet Tracker, which provides GPS location of Direct Connect phones.

The pontiff will speak to the United Nations today, meet with clergy on Saturday and visit the World Trade Center site and say Mass at Yankee Stadium on Sunday.

Anthony is practicing four days a week for his Musical performance on May 8-9-10. He has a solo. Stephanie has told me that he sounds GREAT!

Of Course I am still traveling for work. I am at Disneyland for this weekend and next. I am training the Entertainment group.

Stephanie is working and running Anthony from place to place( No, he has not taken his driving test yet).

So my Six Hour flight from Cleveland to Las Vegas, turns into a 12 hour flight and going on a different airline. So I leave Cleveland on Friday but I did not reach Las Vegas until the early hours of Saturday. :(

Anthony has been asking for some time to have his teeth whitened. We had looked into it with the Dentist and that would set us back about $400 to $800 dollars, plus the Dentist would not do it unless Anthony was 18 years old. We have tried the strips from the store but they do not work very well. And Anthony is not a patient kid to begin with.... But what 16 year old is!

So this past Thursday Stephanie was at Sam's Club and there was a display/area for a company called WhiteSmileUSA. There had created an area in the store something like they do in the malls to demonstrate and give massages. So Saturday, Anthony and I went to Sam's Club and here is pics of the process. the total cost was only 189.00 A far cry from $800 for the dentist.

Sorry for the long delay in posting...I need to get in the habit of posting even when I am on the road.

Well, the first part of March I was again in Disneyland. This is project with them will not end till June so I will be spending a lot of time in Anaheim CA.

Yes You guessed it the Custodial Staff. For both Parks [Disneyland & DCA(Disney California Adventure)]

So far I have trained the Horticulture, ODV (OutDoor Vending) , Stores, and now Custodial. The next LOB will be Entertainment so I hop to get some pictures of that group.

As a side note I have been working on creating a blog and podcast to share my interest, passion, obsession for Everything Disney. The Domain is http://1313southharborblvd.net , but I only have it pointed to a blog page. Stay tuned for that project.

Shelby Co. Courthouse Sidney OH City Hall Disneyland Anaheim CA

From the looks of the two pictures above I believe that Walt Disney may have visited Sidney before he located to Burbank CA and started building the Disneyland. The City Hall in Disneyland has a strong similarity to the Courthouse in Sidney OH.

Am I in Bavaria!?!

I am in Bavaria .... no But I was in Fantasyland on Thursday when the average temperature in CA was only 40 degrees.....bbbrrrr. I was walking from the King Arthur Carousel and I happen to look to my left and It catch my eye. With the Matterhorn in the background of Peter Pan's flight and Mr. Todd's Wild Ride it looked like I was in Bavaria and not CA. So since I have not traveled to Europe yet, I have possible flown enough miles to go to Europe but I have not taken a trip there.

Also I rode the New submarine ride with Nemo, it was pretty cool . Very updated from the 20,000 leagues under the sea attraction.

Of course since I was in Disneyland I had to stop by the Tiki Tiki Room and have a Dole Whip, unfortunately after I took my first bite , I remembered that a Dole whip was more of a ice cream that a fruit smoothie.... And I gave up sweets for LENT. So back on track ...after I finish the Dole Whip.

You are thinking , "why didn't you just throw it away?" Because you can only get a Dole Whip in the park and an experience in Disneyland is not complete with a Dole Whip and Fresh Popcorn on Main Street.

A Busy Saturday....

So I got into the park about 9:30am and it was busy. I had spent the entire week training the Super Users on the Nextel devices and I was ready to enjoy the park. I am working every day from Sunday to Sunday and so I knew this would be my only opportunity to get in the park.
This train is located at the Pirate's Layr Island( formerly Tom Sawyer's Island)
I when in the DCA(Disneyland California Adventure) as well... This pictures were taken with my Blackberry Pearl.
I took a picture of this benches. This is an example of why I am so interested in Walt Disney.

The attention to detail is incredible! The Imagineers could have made ordinary benches, but instead they created benches with Mickey Ears. So I guess these could be considered.... Hidden Mickeys.

I also took a 30 minutes drive to visit the Mission San Juan Capistrano ..... "Where the Swallows come back to Capaistrano" of course I wasn't visiting, when they come back..March 19th.... So no swallows but a very interesting place .....

I Guess I Have Lived in the DESERT Too Long!

So I was going into Target or Targe' and something caught my eye as I walked through the front doors. A bag for your wet umbrella! Since I have lived in Las Vegas since 1995, I don't think about carry an umbrella or a bag to collect the rain from messing up the floor.

Just an interesting observation during my travels.

Cleveland at 37,000 feet

So this is what Cleveland Ohio at 37,000 feet, it was very peaceful but the temperature was not great I am sure. Plus it is real hard to breath at that altitude, hence that is why planes are pressurized.

BUT HERE IS WHAT CLEVELAND LOOK LIKE AT GROUND LEVEL

High Winds due NOT make for FUN Flying!!!

So air flight delays are a given in the winter, But 75 MPH winds that almost turn your plane ride in to a Air Show Barrel-Roll or a Loopy- Loopy can shake the seasoned of fliers. My trip from Chicago to Detroit was not just bumpy, but white knuckled. How long until Spring?? Wait Spring=Thunderstorms....... Hot Humid Summer anyone. I think I need to sign up for training in Australia. They are in Summer this time of the year.

The question is what is the total number of air miles I traveled in one week ?? From Wednesday the 16th to Wednesday the 23rd, I traveled from Las Vegas to Akron Ohio back to Las Vegas to Dayton Ohio. We will have to see if I break this record later this year.

We Have A New Addition to the Family!

Just an update..... We have a new addition to the family. Sunday we adopted a new K-9to the family. We were sent a email from Stephanie's sister about a little Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie that was in need of a good home. Just for some background My wife is very good at location good homes for many animals. I believe in 2007 there had been about 10 dogs that she help find a good home for. But this particular day, I happen to be home and we went to look at this little together.

Here is what was given to us in the email:

I was rescued with a badly broken back leg that had already healed in place too far to be saved, so I am now a little tripod. I don't even notice that it's gone anymore. I am still very fast and can keep up with my other canine companions and I also do fine with cats (mostly I just ignore them). I am very submissive and will always fall upside down at your feet for some loving. Once on your lap, I'll calm right down and snuggle close. I am only about 10 months old and I've been through a lot, so I am looking for that special family that will treat me like one of the kids.

One thing to keep in mind with me though is that I'm not a traveling kind of gal. I get car sick and must be in a kennel when in the car. I don't like to travel because of this. I'd rather have a back yard to play in than go to the dog park unless you live within walking distance of a park.

So here is the recap of the Christmas Eve and Day.

We went to Mass at 4 p.m. but it was so crowded that we left after communion. And when I say crowded, I mean shoulder to shoulder and four lines deep. I was surprised the Fire Marshall did not stop Mass. We had dinner at my in-laws. They invited their next door neighbors and some friends of theirs that were not having Christmas with their kids because their kids were traveling during the Holiday. We opened just a few presents on Christmas Eve. Everyone comes to our house on Christmas Morning for Breakfast and we open stocking gifts. Anthony received several presents with IOUs. The Video game he wanted ROCK BAND was delayed for release. All three of my pre-orders were cancelled, so the game is not available till sometime in January. Also the new cell phone, he wanted was out of stock till Dec 31st.

So Anthony had a performance at school tonight. It was not the Play. I willl post that later with a Youtube link. But this was Anthony's choir group which is a Madrigal Group. For those of you unfamilar with Madrigal Singers. The Group wears period costumes and sings period music. So tonight was a trip back in to the Dark Ages in Merry Old England. This included the Jesters and the food. The dessert was a Bread Puddding.

I hope to add to this post with some YouTube videos, which Jenna-fer will be helping me with. BTW, Jenna-fer is the girl in the above picture.

I know that this is not the normal type of posts, but after I read this I felt that I needed to do more than email to friends and family.
Ben Stein will make you think, he does not "give an answer on how to fix the world" beside we all know how we just don't what to get involved. It is always easier to be part of the problem than the solution.

So please read the commentary below from Ben Stein;

Morning Commentary.

My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it
does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful
lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I
don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I
don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto
In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and
sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all
that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach
house in Malibu. If people want a crèche, it's just as fine with
me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think
Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think
people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around,
period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an
explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I
don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we
should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as
we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too But
there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from
and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a
little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny,
it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane
Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?"
(regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and
insightful response.

She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but
for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out
of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman
He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give
us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leaves us alone?"

In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I
think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her
body found recently)complained she didn't want prayer in our schools,
and we said OK.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible
says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor
as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they
misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we
might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We
said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they
don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill
strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it
out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the
world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say,
but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes'
through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending
messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through
cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and
workplace.

Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on
your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what
they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us
than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no
one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't
sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in. My Best

It is October 23rd and I had an idea! Instead of a birthday cake, why not gourmet cupcakes! I had a co-worker rave about these cupcakes from a bakery in Henderson. So I show Stephanie the menu and had her pick out six diferent favors. I had a coupon for buy a half of doazen adn get a half dozen free. So I recuited the same co-worker to go to the bakery and purchase a second dozen just like my order.

Well the cupcakes were not that great...kind of dry..... Well a neat Idea that did not turn out great! Sorry Steph.

But I think she still liked the idea!

I spent the wek of October 4th working at the Disneyland Resort!! I was conducting training for Cast Members and got the oportunity to go into the park. And for most of the readers to this blog, you know that is a BIG DEAL for ME.

So today is Anthony's sixteenth birthday and I am in Flordia in the height of the Hurricane season. As you see from the picture, the rain came in very fast. It was bright and sunny and now it is UGLY! So Anthony and the rest of the family are having dinner at Dick's last resort. If you are not familar with Dick's. The servers at the resturant insult you through out the dinner. What a great resturant for a teenager. I will post the pictures for the dinner when I get back from Flordia.

The story below is a new report from the local news channel. The High School in the story is the school that Anthony attends and where is Aunt Brandi is a Counselor. It was scary morning and of course at very unproductinve day of school.

Gunshot victim sparks high school lock down

An early morning shooting near Legacy High School in North Las Vegas sends area schools into lockdown. The shooting wounded one 17-year-old male with what police are calling non life-threatening injuries.
The shooting did not actually take place on school property. North Las Vegas Police say the teen was actually found near the intersection of Commerce and Deer Springs, walking in the direction of Legacy.
A woman driving by stopped to ask if the boy was okay. When she saw that he was wounded, police say she put him in her car and took him to this school for medical attention.
"I heard some boys got shot and that's it," parent Mellany Almacn told News 3. Almacn says she got a phone call from her two boys Thursday morning that any parent would dread. "It's kind of scary because I heard like a riot in my phone," Almacn said.
"Everyone just started panicking. Nobody knew what was going on. Everyone just started calling their parents," Mellany's son Maverick Almacn said. News of a 17-year-old boy stumbling to the nurse's office with a gunshot wound struck fear in students and sent them scrambling to call their parents.
It also sent Legacy and the nearby elementary school into lockdown. "If there is any sort of police activity regardless of where that activity may be, if it's in the immediate area of a school obviously we want to err on the side of caution to protect our children. They do that by locking the school down," Sean Walker with North Las Vegas Police Department said.
Schools were locked down for two hours while North Las Vegas Police searched for answers. The gunshot victim, who didn't explain what had happened, was taken to UMC. It's unclear at this point if he was even a student at Legacy.
Mellany Almacn says even though Legacy High just opened last year, she's ready to transfer her children to another school. "If they want to transfer, I want to transfer my boys to another school."

It will not be long now before he is looking at careers and possible colleges. As you can see he was not as enthusasitic to return to school as he was to start school. But they never are .....

Fishing trip with Grandpa, Uncle Eric and Dad

So here we are on another trip..... It is June 9th and we are boarding a plane to Toronto Canada. We are meeting my father and brither for a year long planned fishing trip to Rice Lake in Canada. Rice Lake is about 50 miles east of Toronto. This is the first trip that my father has taken since he started his kidney dialysis. Anthony has not gone fishing before and since teenagers are in a constant mood swing this trip should be interesting.

We only caught about 250 fish. The Bugs were pretty bad and there were days that we did not catch much. Anthony is not very happy with the television stations. A lot of them are in French. There were a lot of G4 shows and of course Leo Laporte. Sorry Eric...Eric is not a fan of the Mac.

On the way back to the airport , we stopped to see some of the sites in Toronto. After checking in at the airport we went through customs and on to the plane. That was a long day from 6am EST to 11pm PST.

This was a good trip, Anthony caught up on a lot of sleep and it was great to just relax for a week.

Star Wars Celebration 4 Los Angeles CA

So what do you do when you travel alot for your job and your only son tells you that the Star Wars convention that only occurs every four years is in Los Angeles? Well, you check your Marriott points and see if you can get a free stay. Well, that did not happen, Marriott did not have rooms avaliable that I could use points to pay for. So we reserve a room for friday, saturday and sunday. I happened to not be traveling for work that weekend and so after working a half day at the office on friday I came home packed the car with our suitcase and a small cooller full of snacks. [if you are not familar with the distance from Las vegas to Los Angeles- it is about 4 to 4.5 hours and over half of that is going through the desert....so nothing to look at and radio stations suck!]

So the Star Wars Celebration 4 was awsome we saw Billy Dee Williams, Peter Mayhew(Chewbacca), Amy Earhart a.k.a Stacy from the Pink Five fan movies (see her picture below) , Jullian Glover from Stars Wars and Indian Jones and the Last Crusade (he was the bad guy that "choose poorly" in Indiana Jones movies) and the back of Carrie Fisher's head in a crowd. Seth Macfarline, creator of Family Guy. Seth was annoucing a two hour episode of the Family Guy that was going to be a Star Was themed episode of the orginal Star Wars movie but with Family Guy characters.

Anthony with Amy Earhart aka Stacy or Pink Five

The highlight of the weeknd was seeing the premiere of the next installment of the Pink five triolgy. Pick Five is a Fan film of Stars Wars staring Amy Earhart as Stacy or Pink Five. The Star Wars geeks will get the reference to Red Five. If you would like to see the episodes of Pink Five , go to Pink Five . So aftere the premere , we drove 4.5 miles back to Las Vegas. It was about one o'clock in the morning when we got home. Anthony fell asleep before we left CA. But I was wie awake with my Venti Double shot Vanille Latte!
